English & Hindi Typing for Government Exams

Learn the keyboard. Build control. Practise the exam pattern.

LV Typing is a focused typing platform for students who need more than a blank typing box. Learn English or Hindi keyboard control, practise with timed passages, and move to a recruitment-oriented profile when the real test has its own language, duration, input method or evaluation rules.

One platform, three stages of preparation

Typing improves faster when you know what you are practising for.

A beginner and an exam-ready typist should not be using the website in exactly the same way. If you are still looking down at the keyboard, the first job is to make the key positions familiar. If the layout is already comfortable, the next job is to type longer text with steady accuracy. When both of those are under control, exam-wise practice becomes useful because timing, language and evaluation can be different from one recruitment to another.

LV Typing keeps these stages separate. Learn Typing is for building keyboard control. Typing Practice is for repeated timed work without forcing a recruitment rule onto every attempt. Exam-wise Practice is for students who want to practise a published recruitment profile with the settings that are available for that profile.

This separation matters most in Hindi. Mangal/InScript and Kruti Dev/Remington are not two names for the same keyboard workflow. A student who prepares on the wrong input method may become faster at a layout that is not useful for the intended test. The learning section therefore keeps English Touch Typing, Hindi Mangal/InScript and Hindi Kruti Dev/Remington as separate routes.

The same idea applies to results. A single high WPM score does not explain whether the attempt was accurate, whether the duration was long enough, or whether repeated corrections broke the rhythm. LV Typing shows speed together with accuracy and mistakes so that the next practice session can be based on what actually happened in the previous one.

Learn Typing

Build the keyboard before you chase the timer.

Good typing practice starts before the first timed test. The learning section is designed for the stage where a student is turning individual key locations into a repeatable finger movement. In English, that means home-row control first, then the upper and lower rows, punctuation, numbers, words, sentences and checkpoints. In Hindi, the order also has to respect the keyboard layout because matras, half letters and common combinations can make the movement pattern very different from English.

There is no benefit in rushing through a lesson simply to reach a speed test. If a particular row, letter combination or punctuation mark repeatedly causes hesitation, spending more time there usually makes the later timed work easier to interpret. Once the layout feels familiar, practice can shift from “Where is this key?” to “Can I type this passage smoothly and accurately?”

Students preparing for a recruitment should also confirm the required Hindi input method before investing most of their practice time. When a published profile is marked as a practice configuration rather than an official-rule profile, the latest recruiting-authority instructions remain the final reference.

Typing Practice

Use timed passages to find the weakness behind the score.

General practice is the bridge between learning a keyboard and rehearsing a specific examination. It gives you room to work on pace, accuracy, punctuation, reading flow and concentration without pretending that every passage is an official exam simulation. The practice library is organised by language and difficulty so that you can repeat a level until the result becomes stable, then move to a more demanding passage or a longer duration.

Easy practice is useful when the main goal is rhythm and key recall. Moderate practice introduces more varied sentence structures and a less predictable flow. Hard practice is intended for students who want unfamiliar or demanding text to expose hesitation that may not appear in a comfortable passage. The labels describe practice difficulty; they are not a claim about the difficulty of a particular government examination.

When you compare attempts, compare like with like. A five-minute English attempt should not be treated as directly equivalent to a longer Hindi attempt on a different layout. Look at the duration, language and input method first. Then look at speed and accuracy together. A small improvement that remains accurate is usually more useful for preparation than a one-off burst that creates a large number of corrections.

WPM
Your pace for that attempt. Compare it with attempts made under similar settings.
Accuracy
Shows how cleanly the typed text matched the expected text under the active evaluator.
Mistakes
Helps you identify whether the same keys, words or combinations keep breaking your rhythm.
Duration
Short attempts show quick rhythm; longer attempts also test concentration and typing stamina.

Exam-wise Typing Practice

The exam name matters because the rules can matter.

Government, railway, court and other recruitment typing stages do not always use one universal format. The test may be English-only, Hindi-only or bilingual. Duration and target speed can differ. Hindi input can depend on Mangal/InScript or Kruti Dev/Remington. Backspace behaviour and evaluation may also differ. For that reason, LV Typing stores recruitment profiles separately instead of applying one generic rule set to every student.

A profile is labelled according to the evidence available for it. A verified or official-rule profile is kept distinct from a practice configuration. Where an evaluator, duration or another detail has not been verified strongly enough, the website should not present that detail as an official examination claim. Students should always read the latest notice or skill-test instruction issued by the recruiting authority before the real test.

Before an exam-mode attempt, check:

  • Which language or languages are permitted?
  • What is the test duration?
  • Is the requirement stated in WPM or key depressions?
  • Which Hindi input method is expected?
  • What does the current instruction say about Backspace?
  • Is the website profile verified, official-rule based or practice-oriented?

A practical preparation routine

Do not change everything after one bad test.

Typing improves through repetition, but repetition is useful only when the next session has a reason. If a result falls sharply, first ask what changed: Was the passage harder? Was the duration longer? Did you switch from English to Hindi? Did you change the input method? Were you correcting too many errors? A score is easier to understand when the settings around it are also remembered.

A simple routine is to learn the layout, repeat short accurate practice, extend the duration after the rhythm becomes stable, and then move to the exam profile. Keep several normal attempts instead of judging your level from the single highest score. When the same mistake appears repeatedly, work on that pattern before increasing the pace again.

Exam-mode practice should be the final layer, not the first. Its purpose is to make the timing and available rules familiar after the basic typing skill is already usable. That keeps the exam simulation from hiding a keyboard-control problem that would be easier to fix in general practice.

  1. 01
    Learn the layout

Make the key positions and common combinations familiar.

  2. 02
    Stabilise accuracy

Use easier passages until the rhythm is repeatable.

  3. 03
    Increase difficulty or duration

Change one variable at a time so the result still means something.

  4. 04
    Practise the recruitment profile

Use exam-wise mode when you need the available recruitment-specific settings.

Rules, sources and corrections

Typing software should not turn an uncertain rule into a confident claim.

LV Typing separates the common typing engine from recruitment-rule data. That makes it possible to correct a profile when an authority publishes a new instruction without rewriting the typing engine that students are already using. It also allows practice-only defaults to be labelled differently from settings supported by stronger evidence.

Official notifications, skill-test instructions and recruiting-authority material are the preferred references for exam rules. When a student or teacher reports an outdated setting, the correction can be checked before the public profile is changed. This is especially important for details such as target speed, duration, permitted input method, Backspace behaviour and result interpretation.

LV Typing is an independent educational platform and is not the recruiting authority. The website is a preparation tool; the latest official instruction issued for the real examination remains the final reference.

Open the full FAQ →
Should I learn typing before opening an exam simulation?

If you still search for keys or struggle with the layout, start in Learn Typing. Exam-wise practice becomes more meaningful after basic key control is comfortable.

Which Hindi mode should I choose?

Use the input method required by the recruitment or the layout you deliberately want to learn. Mangal/InScript and Kruti Dev/Remington are different workflows.

Does one evaluator fit every official exam?

No. Recruitments can differ in timing, speed or error rules. A profile that is not fully verified remains practice-oriented rather than being presented as official.

Should I judge myself by the highest WPM?

Use several normal attempts under similar settings. A stable combination of speed and accuracy is more informative than one unusually high score.
